The weather is changing, days are cool and the leaves are turning. An ideal Saturday morning for our family includes a run on the boardwalk and afternoon playing at the beach. Lately, with the move, I am loaded with projects (hence the chipped manicure!). It can be tough to slow down and enjoy free time (with my mind racing about all of the projects I could be finishing!). Mike is really good about protecting our family time...
SO, today we did not do projects; we instead decided to explore our new town, San Juan Capistrano. A charming, historic, small-feeling town with so much to do, I am absolutely in love. Upon moving here, I immediately became a member of the Mission and spend a lot of time there; more to come on that. Today, however, we decided to walk around the Los Rios Historic District.
After a fun filled trip to the petting zoo (read about it here) we enjoyed walking the Oak tree-lined streets of the Los Rios Historic District. The blend of cultures and styles of architecture are incredible, only 600 feet of the original street still exist. Arden found acorns and did her best to find a squirrel to feed them to.
Someone, not naming names, was vocal about 'a meal at a restaurant' (thanks, Bubbleguppies!) so we found the eclectic Hummingbird Cafe and had a beautiful outdoor lunch. Arden has taken to placing her own order with the waitress, and today was a riot as usual. If anyone ever actually brought out what she requests, I would just die laughing! Today was made complete with two trains stopping for Arden to wave to.
Nap time approached, we headed home. As we carried her upstairs, asleep, we saw that she was still clutching an acorn-her treasure for the day.
